CITY OF NORWALK, CT GOVERNOR FITCH LAW OFFICE – c.1740
Oxygen Design was engaged to develop interpretive exhibit graphics for the Governor Fitch Law Office, a historic structure that forms part of Mill Hill Historic Park in Norwalk, Connecticut. The site offers visitors an immersive look into life during the 18th and 19th centuries, with a focus on Norwalk’s civic and cultural development.
As part of a site-wide effort to reinterpret the building’s interior furnishings and historically accurate color palette, Oxygen Design collaborated closely with historian and curator Daryn Reyman-Lock, PhD to create a series of educational exhibit panels and on-site banners. These materials help visitors contextualize the life and legacy of Governor Thomas Fitch, a prominent figure in Connecticut’s colonial government and legal history.
The visual storytelling approach focused on accessible, engaging design that blends period-appropriate aesthetics with clear, concise interpretive content. The result was a historically rich and visually appealing installation that supports Mill Hill Historic Park’s mission to educate the public about early American life in Norwalk.
Deliverables included:
Custom exhibit panels describing Governor Fitch’s role in colonial governance
Interpretive signage detailing aspects of 18th-century law and daily life
Visual integration with the building’s updated colorways and furnishings
Banner displays to complement permanent interpretive materials
This project is a key example of Oxygen Design’s expertise in museum exhibit graphics, interpretive signage, and collaborative content development for historic preservation organizations.
