NORWALK COLLECTS: CELEBRATING FOUR HISTORIC COLLECTIONS

As the inaugural exhibition for the reimagined Norwalk Historical Society Museum in Norwalk, Connecticut, Norwalk Collects brought together four unique collections to tell a unified story of the town’s diverse historical heritage. The exhibition served as a cornerstone project for the museum’s relaunch, introducing visitors to newly interpreted materials that spanned centuries of Norwalk’s civic, cultural, and personal narratives.

Oxygen Design collaborated closely with curator Elizabeth Fox to develop a cohesive visual design system that connected the four separate collections into a single interpretive experience. The project included the creation of exhibit panels, gallery signage, and object labels that clarified and enhanced the historical context of the artifacts on display.

Designed for clarity, visual continuity, and accessibility, the exhibit materials helped establish the museum’s new identity as a vital, visitor-centered institution. This project highlights Oxygen Design’s strength in museum exhibit design, interpretive storytelling, and creating engaging, educational environments for cultural institutions.
