WESTON AT WORK

Weston's Agricultural Past

The Agriculture exhibit centers on Weston’s farming traditions and innovations from the 19th through early 20th centuries. Organized seasonally around the Coley Barn’s 1908 Lockwood Baler — a local invention — the design follows the rhythms of planting, harvest, and winter labor. Interpretive panels and artifacts reveal how technological change, immigrant labor, and expanding markets reshaped local agriculture.

Displays of tools, patent diagrams, and primary documents trace the transition from ox-drawn plows to mechanized equipment, highlighting both continuity and adaptation. Together, these elements underscore Weston’s agricultural ingenuity and the enduring role of farming in shaping the town’s economy and community identity.
